Pearlridge Express rolls out for holidays

The Pearlridge Express heralds the start of the holiday season at Pearlridge when it pulls into the station on Friday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. But that’s only the first of many ways in which Pearlridge Center celebrates the holidays!

Last year, nearly 30,000 keiki rode the Pearlridge Express during its holiday stop.

Operating as a division of the historic Oahu Railway & Land Co., whose members can share train lore and insights, the Pearlridge Express started operating Nov. 19, and will run daily through Jan. 2, 2011. Keiki must be under 48 inches tall and able to ride alone. Tickets are $3 per child per ride. For even greater value, 10-coupon Pearlridge Express ride booklets are available for $25, a savings of $5.

Here are the hours:
Through Nov. 24: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.<
Nov. 25 (Thanksgiving): Closed
Nov. 26 through Dec. 23: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Dec. 24: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.<
Dec. 25 (Christmas): Closed<
Dec. 26 through Jan. 2: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds from the Pearlridge Express will benefit the Hawaiian Railway Society, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to preserving the history of railroading in Hawaii. Last holiday season, Pearlridge Center donated more than $36,000 to the group.

Pearlridge Center is at 98-1005 Moanalua Road / 808.488.0981
